I have a chance to get a Karate Monkey for 400 dollars is this a good buy? The size is large, I'm just under 6' would this bike fit me?

I'm trying to get rid of mine right now. I'm asking 800 and it's all new with good parts and hydraulic disc brakes. 400 is good for something that is used and has medium level parts.

I'm about 5'10" and have the 18". It was always big for me and my none 29'er fit better so I'm getting rid of it.

For $400 it sounds good. I'm sure the seller has much more into it but age and apperance dictate price.

As far as fit it personal. For me I've spent a lot of time on 26" shifting bikes and single speeds. All my bikes are different sizes but all fit about the same. For some reason I couldn't get the KM to "fit" and it never felt right. For one the front was a little high for me. When I oroginally built it, it was a SS and standing climbing was a litle difficult because I could never get over the front and mash.

If I were you I'd ride the bike and get a feel for it especially if you've never ridden a 29'er.

Thank you, I will get in touch with him and try it out. My next choice was a Specialized Rockhopper pro.

Careful with the size

Hey, that sounds like a really great deal, but watch the size. I'm 6' 2"ish and ride an 18in frame and it is the perfect size. I also have a 20.5" Rocky Mountain squishy bike that is a 26" wheel. So what I'm saying is, is that with the 29er I ride a smaller frame. The the 29er wheelbase compensates for the smaller frame. The smaller frame keeps the bike nimble and quick with the big wheels.

I would highly recommend you ride it first.

My preference is a smaller frame if its a 29er. The "large" may feel big to you.
