Suspension Question

Have an 04 Disco SE7 with a Rover Racks roof rack and when I load a couple of jerry cans on top and food, tools, etc in the back, through in a couple of people, the back end sags. Don't want an major lift or anything, but do plan on adding some underbody protection in the future.

Any ideas on a good spring/shock setup to run? I had OME med duty with bilsteins on my old range rover, which I liked, but am curious about other configs people are running.

Thanks,
Dave

Edit: Of course you have to consider a lot of things like what kind of driving can I expect, What kind of loads, etc. --- and then pick a suitable kit. I was very pleased with aboves setup since it really was a good compromise for all needs.

I really liked my RTE 2" w/OME Shocks. The lift was just a little bigger than the OME 2" and not as prone to sagging.

Sagging under a load is not a problem that has to be cured, IMO. It's just a fact of life. Suspensions are one big compromise, and you have to decided what you want to do. If you put springs stiff enough to not sag under load, they will be too hard and uncomfortable without a load which is probably 95% of the time.

One option is airbags in the back. You only get the boost when you need it. This is why Discos had an optional airbag system back there from the factory. Actually, if you have an SE7, you should have bags in the back already, did you remove them?

Lots of people do replace them because they are failure prone. But adding supplemental airbags inside the coil springs should give you a best of both worlds.

I was going to do this myself, but decided an extra axle for carrying the load was a better way to go.

Unfortunately (to the best of my knowledge) you can't get King Springs over here in the states... It kind of boils down to RTE or OME. Personally, I'd choose either the 762s (HD rear 300-340lb/in progressive) or 781s (M/HD rear 290lb/in) for the back of your truck.

Oops my bad.

Heard that Kings and OME are same same just a different sticker on it? Has someone a founded knowledge on this?

Difference here is for sure the price tag (Kings 50% lower at about 1000AED/300USD for a set of 4)

04 SE7s had a coil/shock option - mine is that.

I am considering adjustable shocks in the rear, but may settle for OME mediums. Right now the cheapest potential solution is getting jerry can holders for the front of the rack for better weight distribution, and a big pelican case for spares, tools, fluids.
