TRIP CANCELLED...NOBODY HAS SIGNED UP SO WE'RE HEADING ELSEWHERE...SEE YOU NEXT TIME.
It's time to run the Sutherland Trail. Sutherland for some reason doesn't get heavy usage. Many do not know of it's whereabouts. We've been on the first half, though never ran the trail to it's end which is where the good stuff is. Come on out and join us in our 80-series Cruiser.
Sutherland Trail (Coronado National Forest FR643) begins in Catalina and climbs up Mt. Lemmon to over 5000 feet where it continues via hiking trail. We'll go as far as we can and return.
The trail is difficult. There are some intense places that take extra care (I've heard and seen pics). No stock vehicles on this run. Traction Control or a rear-locker is required in order to attend this run. I've read different trail ratings on this one. I'd give it a 3.5 on the 1-5 scale.
Meeting Time: 9:45 AM with a 10:00 AM pullout. This will give Phoenix attendees some time to make it down.
*East Valley folks would take the Pinal Pioneer Parkway from Florence down to Oracle Jct.
**West Valley folks would take I-10 east then exit at Red Rock (just past Picacho Peak), go left (east) over freeway, then back along WEST I-10 on the frontage road to Park Link Road. Turn right (east) onto this road. It juctions with AZ79 (Pinal Pioneer Parkway) where you'll turn right toward Oracle Jct.
Meeting Place: McDonalds in the Town of Catalina.
We'll keep this trip open to any number of vehicles. More is better on this one. Come on out!
