I had to check wikipedia for reverberatory before I saw that it was a furnace in your trip report. :ylsmoke:

A reverberatory furnace is a metallurgical or process furnace that isolates the material being processed from contact with the fuel, but not from contact with combustion gases. The term reverberation is used here in a generic sense of rebounding or reflecting, not in the acoustic sense of echoing.

A few years back I too ran into the same problem of trying to find that road to 93 only to see that it disappeared into the lake, and then spent several hours trying to find a road to the east and ended up going through the tunnel in the tamarisk trees. The tamarisk tree tunnel alone makes an interesting trip.
