If you take it to an independent diesel performance shop, you can probably get a correct diagnosis. Most turbos have a cast iron housing. The housing rusts.

Yeah, that’s my plan. The dealer’s explanation did not make much sense. I suspect that they maybe just didn’t want to work on an RV.

The vane in the turbo was sticking. The code cleared and has not reoccurred. The shop said that this can happen, especially if the vehicle has not been driven for a while. After you drive it a bit the vane gets loose and works properly. I have logged about 3,000 miles on the truck and the turbo appears to be working fine.
