Taco & 4runner Questions

and I saw no one has a full roof rack on their taco, is that a no no bolting it to the cab then extending it over onto the shell?

Over uneven surfaces, the bed usually moves in relation to the cab as the frame twists, so I would imagine having a rack connecting the two with rigid mounts would stress or crack 1) the rack mounts 2) the shell 3) the cab.

If you connect a rack to the cab and the canopy it will crack. Trust me on this one. The bed twists a lot.

No there is no big company that manufactures swing out bumpers day in and day out on an assembly line. The market for them is very small. Really all you have is custom made or made when you order it. Trust me it is painless to order one. Steve at CBI made a great one for me. He gets someone elses truck into the shop, builds it around that truck and then just ships it to you. Shipping was just over $100. My bumper all together came to around $800. You really can't get cheaper then that unless you build it yourself.

The price for the CBI one is not too bad considering how much time and effort goes into making them.

I havnt yet, but I will... as long as the rubber seal is in good condition and the top locks down securely I don't see a reason to spend 3 times as much for a new one. Anyone have experience with the used ones?

I checked into all of those aftermarket companies and only one - armorology seems to make custom rear tire carrier for a Taco or 4runner.

search harder... outside of Jeep wranglers, Toyotas have about the largest group of aftermarket builders/suppliers of any 4x4...
