In this pic:
The "end piece" looks also to be C Channel. Is that a different size? I understood the comment about having it longer to cover the bearing.
I could not see the pic for the "stops"....would love to see those if that can be re-linked.
How is the L Channel attached? You had to router out the channel right? Is there enough wood left to attach them too?

the end piece is just a piece of angle iron.
yea its hard to see in the pics and now its installed, but the idea of the stops was just adding a small lip on the front pice, then the first two cross braces have notches cut out to slide over that then the last one hits it.
Which L channel? the alu sides? its just bolted though the wood top to the bottom C channel.

and so far, i havent setup a lock for it, but will do that this weekend, waiting for some parts to come in for it

so realized i had no good way to remove the stop to fix something lol. so i added a access panel.
started with a template so i could router out a nice clean opening. notice there are a few sizes. the first size was for going all the way though, and the larger size was to make a resese cut to allow the alu panel to sit flush.
and a shot from under it showing the cutouts that allow those sections to pass over the stop.
and the cover plate (i added two flush mount screws to hold it in)

after using for the weekend it worked very well. i will be adding some sides and back to it to better hold the crap i use. as i found once i slid it out that some stuff fell behind.

OUTSTANDING! Way better than what I cooked up. I cut some plywood for a pickup bed cover as I was worried about leaving our camping gear just sitting. Put in some eye bolts and used ratchet straps to the bed tie downs. I used the leftover sections of ply as a "slide". More of a "grunt and drag". It worked, but good grief, it was heavy pushing and pulling. It has since been retired. Your design is great. Simple and it looks really stout.

Nice job. I am working out a plan to build one for my F250.
