Tacoma Transmission Noise

My Taco's auto tranny is starting to make a kind of ticking sound that goes away after the first 5-10 miles of driving when cold. It almost sounds like how a bad connecting rod sounds, only much quieter. You can hear it best in the cab and it is consistent with RPM. It doesn't seem to shift funny or anything, just the rattly ticking sound. Flex plate?? Anyone have any ideas?

I don't think its the tranny, its the engine. Mine has made the same type of noise since day one in the cold weather. the colder it is, the louder it is. I let my truck warm up for 10 15 minutes in the really cold weather. Mine stops after my engine gets to 40C (scan gauge II)

My wife Subaru used to make the same sound in really cold weather too.

Or has it just started making this noise?

It just started last week and it doesn't have to be cold outside to do it, Just the truck itself. It's been in the 80's here and it still will do it . You can't really hear it at all outside of the vehicle. If you get down on the floorboard you can hear it best. It sounds like it's coming from right under the floor there on the drivers side, but when you get underneath the truck to listen you can't hear it from all the engine noise. Inside the cab it's very noticeable. I'm going to get a stethoscope today and have a listen a little later after the truck sits for awhile.
