I used screw snaps along the top edge of the rear support bar for the Softopper, and then along the top and side edges of the tailgate. The female end of the snaps were attached by snap-pliers which I borrowed from a friend.

When I called Softopper to order the extra material, he was curious as to why. (I don't remember his name as this was a few years ago). He was very interested to see how it came out. I still plan to send them pictures, but I want to get the zippered door in first - it's a pain to snap the material shut from the inside.

Some thoughts after usage.

Wind. Even fully tightened down the DAC flaps in the wind quite a bit, which can be very annoying in high winds.

Rain. No leaks so far, ony had it out in heavy drizzle though. Provides a great shelter when setting up the mattress and bedding, I can slide my drawers out the the end of the open tailgate and not worry about getting their contents soaked.

Heat. It's been pretty cold and the DAC definitely makes it hard to heat up the camper shell with either body heat or a space heater.

Size. It packs up very small and makes stowing it very simple.

Deployment. Takes me about 5 minutes to deploy now, because of the contractor rack on my pickup the fabric bunches up, but the bars make great attachment points for the bungees.

Critters. In order to seal all the holes created by the aforementioned contractor rack, I have to wrap the tailgate bungee around my receiver hitch a couple of times, haven't had any issues with Mosquitos or other critters when I do that.

Bonus. I can hang my wet clothes from the glass lift door and have them dry over the tailgate. I also have a great place to put my shoes at night. The extra foot room is nice, but if it is especially cold or windy I shut the glass lift door, which works fine.

Overall. The best feature is that it gives you a porch of sorts on the tailgate of your camper shell. The additional leg room hasn't been all that life changing. It's easy enough to deploy however and the wife loves it.

Im 6'6" and my girlfriend and I sleep in my short short bed all the time. I modified my truck bed tent to work, although i am thinking about having something made out of marine grade canvas.
