Tallest narrow tire?

Just about got all the rebuilding done on my one ton axles and want to buy a tire and wheel combo. I want at least a 35 on a 16 inch rim. What are my choices?

I do know that BFG makes a 33x9.5 on 15" wheels, as for 35's, I'm not too sure, check out tire rack.

Yea--not having any luck. I need something tall though. Trying to make up for the clearance of the big one ton stuff.

255/100 R16 Michelin XZL. 36x10.5 equiv.

35x10.5 Super Swamper SSR

And of course, the 255/85 offerings, but that might not be tall enough for you.

I have always ran tall and skinny tires and have had very good results in all type terrians.

A couple of the guys I ride with have Discoveries, one runs the 36x12.50R16LT Super Swamper Radial and the other runs the 34x9.00-16LT Special Service Super Swamper TSL they both perform very well.

I would love the XZL just not having any luck finding them.:(

What tires are those in the picture of your truck?

What kind of tire are you looking for? I'm running Cooper Discoverer STT 315/75 16. It's 34.6". Armortek3 sidewall, which is a bias ply over radial as I understand it. MT type lugs, already siped. D rated http://www.coopertire.com/html/products/tires_lighttruck.aspx?page=discoverer_stt If you look at the site, you'll see they have a number of size choices.

So far I like them. Not to much road noise compared to my last tires which were Yokohama Geolander AT's. For an AT those were a bit noisy.

with one tons, you actually have more choice.

in addition to the tsl and michelin tires, bfg makes a 37x12.5R17, and i think maxxis and MT make a 37x12.5R16 in various tread patterns. that'd be an 85% aspect ratio. going much higher on the a/r increases the likelihood youll fold the sidewall at low pressure.
