What type of mileage were you getting with the stock gears and 33s and how did you like the drive ability? Trying to figure out how large I want to go for tires and don't really want to re-gear yet...was hoping to get something in the 33-33.5" range.

Great place for the switches too!

Looking good buddy. Looks like I'll have some work to do to be able to keep up on the trails. Oh well. I have a winch now in my rusty front bumper to pull me. Haha

Nice fit on the compressor. I'll be going left by the ABS module.

Sucks about the gear issues... hopefully you'll get it sorted.

Good to hear about the fuel economy tho. That's a selling point to the wife for that and ARBs.

Shackle flip kit/new leaf pack and new longer travel rear shocks (remove tire carrier and mini bed cutting) OR re gear and ARB rear.... decisions hahha....

I know once I get the front Fox's in the rear won't be able to keep up.

I keep wanting to buy the Limited Sequoia 4 switch lower panel, but for $75 from Toyota... ugh.

I would never have thought to shoe horn my compressor in there...nicely done!

For economy the 33s weren't a real draw on mileage I was doing 16-17mpg but it definately shifted more on the highway which was annoying. Put the 35s on and dropped to 10mpg. Regeared and I'm back up to about 16 mpg but the truck holds hills amazingly on the highway now really nice to drive.

Ya always a decision which mod to do first but forsure the $$ get out of control
With gearing lockers wiring blah blah but it will be worth it.

Also was having trouble
With wandering on the highway which almost felt like bump steer, changed my lower ball joints and now drives awesome so that was kinda scary knowing the lowers were so bad that it was wandering all over the road

Finally got the truck all together and lockers functioning and it is amazing what a truck can do with locked axles! So drive about 500kms and then the dreaded get oil down the rim. I must have damaged the outer axle seals when I was doing the work the strange thing it is it leaked both side wondering if because I just pulled the axles out enough to clear the 3rd member and they sat on the seals it damaged them but both sides filled the rear drums with gear oil...so gonna tear it down again and get some new seals in there but I really didn't wanna take it all apart again.

****ty deal. You'll at least be good at pulling the axles! Hahahaha.

Jealous of the gears and lockers. Did you get the backlash/tooth pattern and such all sorted out?

Yes I did sort it out. I took the front apart 3 more times but it's done correctly now. That's not very much fun. Also interestingly with the proper gears I went from 11mpg back up to 16 mpg which I was very excited about!

If the rear axle is similar to the 4Runner make sure that the spacer rings that the lip seals ride on are oriented correct. If they aren't the lip seal might be riding on a chamfer which obviously will cause issues :).

Truck is all back together, I damaged the seal when I was installing the axles but at least I've got fresh brakes in the rear. Been wanting a softopper but with the exchange rate so bad I'm holding off. So found a canvas tarp that fit perfect over my old roof top tent rack and strapped it all down, poor mans softopper to at least keep the sun off the dogs.

Did some flexing to check clearances, seems to flex out pretty good for a big rig! Heading to crows nest in a few weeks so should have some good pics from that trip

So thought I had heard some noise from the rear end the last little bit, threw her on jacks tonite and it's very exaggerated on jack stands, the noise is only on coast/ decal and the truck drives fine but with a noise like that it's gonna have to come apart again... awesome
