Tax return spending!

The boss has okayed me to spend a little of the tax return on the tundra. The original thought was to have the bed sprayed with line-x. But the more I think about it some 5100's maybe a better investment since I have 75K on the stock TRD billys. What do you guys think, let the bed go another year? I have a plastic drop in bed liner so the bed is some what protected....

If your shocks are bad, you gotta replace them, but....I would certainly consider boosting your IRA contribution before spraying in a bedliner. After all, your post did use the term investment. I find it very rare to be able to accurately use investment when talking about automobiles.

Tax return, what's that.....?

I say shocks, it's what you use everyday!. Don't bother with a plastic liner, they do more harm than good. I had one in my tundra and it's amazing how much dirt and other garbage gets trapped between the liner and bed. Linex is the way to go!

That's what the rest of the return is going to! Retirement fund...

No kidding, can't remember the last time we didn't write a check in April.

As far as the bed liner, I would avoid them like crazy. A rubber mat and that's that. I had a plastic one years ago that rubbed paint to bare metal (not to mention being dangerous at gas stations as static generators) and recently saw a huge rust spot under a Rhino-lined bed where water had wicked through a void and had free reign for years to attack a seam.

Agree on the rubber mat. It flat out prevents equipment rattles. Reduces tendency of stuff of slide around. Does not provide a place for rust to start. It is low cost.

I've never understood the popularity of bed liner.

I'll be much more careful about inspecting Rhinolined trucks in the future. Finding this was ultimately a $2k resale price decrease mistake when we had to sell our Taco, which we owned less than a year. Couldn't see it from underneath because there was a rib that blocked it. So I had to peel off liner, fix and stabilize it. In the end I was going to have to cut out some metal and fix it right.

I like using Bed Rug sides and rubber matt combo. Especially if you sleep in the bed of the truck.
