OK I am a tech dummy to start, anyhow here is my thinking:
I am looking for a new GPS but it would be nice if it could do more(mp3/wifi/email/video/.pdf`s/blah,blah).
Goal is to use easily in both of my trucks.

This is what I am looking at

using the Overland Navigator software

what would I need for a GPS antenna?
do you think the PCtablet would hold up for mobile/off road use?
are there other options I should be looking at?

That seems like not a lot of computer for too much $$. For just using Overland Navigator it would probably work, but then you are spending $400 for a GPS unit (too much)...

If you are patient and can wait 3-6 months, there are going to be (close to) dozens of tablet PCs coming out, most likely at a lower price point with more features. I have a S10-3t (it's referenced in your link) and it works very well, but I also bought it fairly soon after it came out, paid a premium for it, and it's now starting to become outdated.

Also, the tablets announced range from 5" up to 10", with lots of processor/hard drive options. And it looks like prices will range from $199 up to whoknowswhat.

A good GPS is the BU-353 (USB cable) or BU-359 (bluetooth)...cheap, durable, good reception.

If you aren't patient, that would likely work, and the hard drive shouldn't have any problems, and the specs look ok, if a bit expensive :)

I looked at them too for my family - in car system, but ended up buying a HP touchsmart convertable.

It does everything I throw at it and more, the baby watch's dvd's off the HD
it holds all our music, GPS just USB

long battery power, draw programs for little one to scribble away-

does everything the archos and its equivalents do - but more

we are very happy with ours........we even take it into restaurants flip the screen and she can scribble and draw- or flip up and reverse and she has dvd's and we have the keyboard...
