telescoping antenna mast?

Are the masts your friend has of the smaller diameter type? I did find one that goes to 30 ft but it's about 7" in diameter and weighs over a hundred pounds. It's made to hoist 1500 lbs of 'stuff' (big work lights). Definitely overkill. I found all the seals I needed in Denver at Jet Seals, and only have about $20 in the seals (just big o-rings). He might try there.
I sure like the look of that J-pole! I need something for deployment when camping, too.

I will have to look but the are light and no bigger than 3". the seals are leather, big and odd shaped, I tried soaking them but the are to far gone. I have not laid eyes on them in a couple of years, maybe I will head over to his race shop and look at them again.

I have seen a couple of RV owners using satellite dish actuators to raise and lower verticals on top of there rigs. couldnt find a link to one but will keep looking.

I certainly need something better than the rigid mounts I have been using. A linear actuator would raise and lower an antenna bar, or a little gearmotor would do the job. The headache rack I made, with the intention of putting antennas along the top, just puts the antennas up where they get knocked off! The two flat plates at the ends were for mag mounts, but that didn't work well....they never stayed put on the trail.

As for mag mounts we use these on chase trucks and prerunners https://www.pciraceradios.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=3739739852770279681 they are made by Anotec (SP?) and I have one that is even larger then the one pictured. Pictured is a 4", I have a 6". I put a shop rag under it to use to remove it as it is hard to pry it lose.

Look for an OE-254. Its a collapsable and light wieght, for its size FM antenna. Its got cable race ways for the coaxial. Its also color coded for guide wires, and poles. It can be put up by one person in the dark, who has never seen it.
