Tell me about the oztent.

thanks to the "treading heavily" thread I have discovered the amazing oztent. I am pretty impressed with them and was wondering what everyones thoughts on them are. How is the quality and how waterproof is it? Anyone here have anything bad to say about them? They are a little out of my price range, but would be perfect for my future trailer project and maybe I can convince my parents that they need one so I can borrow it. I was also wondering if anyone knows of a dealer in America.

You will love the Fall 2008 issue of Overland Journal then. There is a full test of family tents in this issue, including the very cool OZ Tent.

Go for it the Oztent Rocks. Everytime we set ours up (RV-4) we get tons of inquiries. It is so nice to be able to enjoy the room of the tent but more importantly the "lounge" on the front. Once the tent is set up with the optional peak side panels and front panel you have a wonderfully comfortable area to relax and hang out bug free.

What is the best american vendor or do I have to order from overseas? I was thinking that an RV-2 would be awesome. I could use it when I camp with friends and then when I build my trailer it can be setup on a platform on top. I was thinking a top on the trailer that would unfold like the floor of a rtt. Then I would have a basic platform to pitch the tent on. Then I could also use the tent separate from the trailer for solo runs.

A friend has one, the only issue he has is when it's put away it's too long to fit inside his truck and has to go on roofrack.

Other than that he can't fault it and has just upgraded to the bigger RV4.
