Tent to leave up all summer

This is my concern. Long term attended a tent isn't bad (like if you're building a cabin and need shelter while it's built). But I'd go the route of picking up a cheap used travel trailer, it's not as pretty having a 1990s trailer looking abandoned on your property but it does help give the air of "Don't trespass, there may be a crazy "unibomber" protecting his property around here."

Just get something used off craigs list that isn't falling apart, haul it out, then put a hitch lock on it or put it on blocks and remove the wheels.

Another thing you might consider is building a Conex cabin. Conexes can be bought relatively cheaply. Put in 4 cement piers for the corners to rest on, and get it dropped on site. Build a beefy wall with a security door just inside the big swing doors. When you're not there, close the swing doors and secure with 4 shielded padlocks. You can start out with a couple cots and a propane heater, and go from there. Pick away at finishing the inside. You have a pre-built secure location to store your materials, and it will eventually evolve into the final structure. Plus it's easily expandable. Plop another one next to it, fasten them together, and torch out a doorway. Stack one on top for a second floor.

If you can't tell, I'm a huge fan of shipping container cabins.

baileyrorys,

I am in Seattle as well. On Craigslist there is a guy in Olympia selling 11' x 11' Mobile Command post tents for $800, and a guy in Port Angeles selling larger ones. Just search on "military tent".

What part of the state is your new property in?

A few friends have tuff sheds as their off grid shack, but they are pricy. A few others simply built a simple shed for about half the price of a tough shed.
