TeraFlex JK HD Hing With Stock Carrier?

I just sold my AEV tire career because it pushed my Tire up really high and My wife did not like how it blocked the rear window. On my old two door JK with 35 this was not a problem because it was standard so she could not drive it. I have been looking at the Tera Flex JK HD Hinged Carrier and see you can get it as just the hing and use the stock tire carrier with some modification. This seems like a good way to get the tire wight off the tailgate and keep it in the stock location. Has anyone tried this????

I put both the HD hinge and the carrier on. With a 35", you may not be able to clear the rear bumper cutout. On my AEV bumper, there's no way it would work.

I have 285/75 that are really about 32.8's so I think it should fit fine I might have to make a space but I can handle that. The Old Jeep Had the 35's

yeah, the stock bumper is made to hold a 33. You should be able to get away with the stock carrier on the HD hinge. That's why TF sells them separately I think...not everybody needs the tire carrier portion.

I had 285/75 Toyo MT's on my 07' with the stock tire carrier and the tire actually rested on the bumper cutout as well as barely clearing the 3rd brake light. I think teraflex or someone make an offset spacer to lift up the spare tire on the stock carrier but then you have to figure out the 3rd brake light problem.

I have a 315/70/17 tire mounted on my stock tire carrier. It rests perfectly on the stock bumper cutout and the 3rd blake lite is visible.

Well i got my Teraflex HD hinge today and installed it tonight. It works great and to my wife's delight the Spare tire no longer blocks half the rear window like it did with my AEV. Its a really nice product and with a little work in the morning i think i can get my tough stuff hood shovel, axe mount to work with it.
