TexasGuidedExpeditions, 99' LC100 UTE conversion Build

Welcome to the Build, Fellow Land Cruiser enthusiasts.

Hello, everyone it's been some time now and well I am back on the horse and ready for a new project. It all started months ago, looking for a lc100 series as everyone else does. I quickly realized this would be hard and surely it was. Damn, do these trucks like to hold their value, so I started searching underground network and found this bad boy 2 weeks ago. I Found this prize here in Texas of all places and in a short drive to Amarillo, Tx, I left. I contacted John @ streettoyota and we discussed $$$$.$$ and issues, so in short I came home with it 2 days ago at 2am back to good ol' DFW.

*Best part of this whole thing, is that it was the wife's words...

go ahead and buy it to make it your own. :wings:

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • 1. snapped timing belt @ 240,939. (Mileage) FIXED
    - Part of the deal with the dealership was they put in a $800.00 service (I didn't pay for and was eaten by their service dept.) timing belt kit and make sure it ran and didn't have any damage within. it ran and was driven onto the trailer Thursday afternoon.
  • 2. Blown "Left" Head gasket @ 240,939 (Mileage) BROKEN

    - I already knew purchasing the truck, it needed "Head Gasket" work done. It overheated and pours out white smoke from the tailpipe, that's OK. I don't mind refreshing it and have it running in no time at all, so we hope. :D

Nice project platform! Can't beat a 100 series!

Well, we could if we could afford a newer one. :)

Update, 11/2/15

Short videos will be included from time to time, because our viewers will be spoiled! :lurk:

We begin tear down yesterday night and now will post up our results... as mentioned the new timing belt was installed and we had to undo it. The test #'s are up and within specifics, so we will have to run a few more tests to know for sure. "Puzzled", because there seems to be no issue so far? As for the buildup in the cooling system, we aren't so sure about it. Today we will be doing an oil change and a leak down test.
