First off a picture is worth 1000 words so...

Now that people can picture what I'm talking about I will give my thoughts.
First off another member posted a link to this company on a separate thread as a camper worth taking a look at. Since I'm a total nerd for new tech I immediately followed the link and went down a rabbit hole to find out all I could about the new camper. While browsing the companies website I noticed the location was about an hour from where I live! Shocking since honestly most cool stuff is never headquartered in upstate New York (Douglas Fly Rods being the only exception that comes to mind). Anyway I shot an email off to the address provided and low and behold within a few mins I received a response from Parr Wiegel the owner and inventor of this new camper. Long story short after a back and forth via email he invited me to his cottage to see the camper in person! COOL!
I shot over after work not knowing what to except and was pleasantly surprised when Parr invited me in, treated me like and old friend and explained his history as well as the history of his new camper. After exchanging a few stories we went outside to see the camper mounted on his F150 short box. Perfect, that exactly what I wanted the camper for. After explaining to me that the unit I was viewing was a prototype/ proof of concept and not the finished and final design we hopped up inside. I can tell you if you have a Ford with the tailgate step this camper is built for you!
Once inside I was simply stunned by the amount of space, I also own an F350 Tremor with a Supertramp so I know a little bit about campers and what feels right. Massive, now keep in mind this is an empty shell so you aren't cramped with counter or a fridge so of course it's bound to feel big. The camper is constructed out of the same type of drop stitch material used in paddleboards and his was inflated to 4-5psi and felt rock solid. I asked his about temperature swings (particularly heat) and he explained that even if you went from 40F to 100F the pressure would not increase enough to cause damage to the unit. The seams can handle 15psi without issue. Not to say if you were driving the Pan American with one you might not want to make small adjustments when in the Andes or the rainforest but you're not likely to do any actual damage.
I asked him about taking photographs and posting them but he asked that I wait until the final product arrived (a month out) so the above posted picture was lifted from his website.
So why was I even looking at this camper? Well, my Tremor/Supertramp lives the life of luxury and once the snow flies and the salt hits the road it never leaves the heated garage. That said my Daily driver F150 Lightning needs to be my winter steeheading vehicle and at only 180lbs the ThAir Camper is ideal for a 1/2T truck.
I plan on posting a lot more about this as the final production models come along but for now please feel free to ask any questions you have. I have the owners contact info and I placed my order via the website to reserve one for $1 (yes ONE dollar). The price listed through the website today (7/19/2025) is $1899 if you sign up with a $1 reservation.
Almost forgot! the part of this camper that really sold me, you can take it off your truck alone in less than 5 mins and but it back on alone in the same time. This camper is the first full truck camper that I have ever seen that can be installed on a Friday after work and taken back off Sunday after a weekend of exploring. Because it's a drop stitch inflatable you're insulated from the hot and cold and the final production model has a pass through built in for heat or A/C. My Lightning has 131kWh battery and a truck bed outlet that should power a small electric heater perfectly keeping my wading boots and waders from freezing and me toasty all night.
I really think this is a special product and I may sound like I'm gushing but I have zero connection or financial incentive from the company just happy to share a new product from a really nice guy. Oh and these are NOT made in China, rather they're coming from Vietnam from a company already in the inflatable paddle board space. Parr actually mentioned this specifically as the imposed Tariffs on Vietnam are much less then China which should help to keep the cost low.
I'll update this if I think of anything else but in the meantime I'll be waiting to see the final product.
