This is awesome! I love that you aren't afraid to admit mistakes. I hope you don't mind that I laughed several times reading the follies. Keep the pictures coming, I'd love to see more of the trip.

Hey really cool home build. I would sure like to see how you build that separate battery/charge box.
Cruiserpilot, I'm not using that battery box like that anymore. But I'll get you some details on what I put together. At the time I wanted something modular and a cheaper alternative to a commercial battery box. The ctek charge controller fit my bill because it accepted both alternator and solar power inputs at the same time. Then mounted a blue sea fuse box and 12v plugs. Everything is just screwed to the walls of the front runner wolf pack box. I never had a good place to mount the arb compressor and thought having a fully modular system that I could choose to run off solar would be cool.

The biggest downsides were weight. The box probably weighed 80-100 lbs with the battery and compressor.

I'll throw up some more pics today.

that would be appreciated. I'm looking at the Ctek for my truck for the second battery, I don't think I'll have a separate box either. I just get so much information
and knowledge from how others do stuff that easily translates into my truck.
Have you experience with solar power set up for your truck?

I run a 60 Watt panel hard mounted to the roof, that is connected full time to the ctek. I had 120 watts total, but I really don't need the power, to keep my fridge, lights, computer, cameras, and phone all running the 60 watt seems to work great.

I now have the compressor mounted on the side of the bed, all the battery junk is behind the plywood as well its kinda a mess back there though. I keep a fire extinguisher close by. Also just noticed the compressor looks pretty crooked in that picture.
