The 2015 Chevy Colorado build and price is up. Anyone excited? Anyone ordered?

Remove $770 from the Silverado and $525 from the Colorado then. Closes the gap all of $245.... still over $7,200 difference

It will be a tough sell. Most people will look at it as "well I can spend x amount and get a Colorado, or spend a little more and get a fullsize". Plus the fact that the salesman will tell most customer for only 50 more per month or something along those lines. I also think that the diesel sales will be low, because the gas looks plenty powerful.

I have no clue what versions Clutch was building.... not 4x4? Not Crew Cabs? Who knows...

I think it will too, with some haggling and/or dealer incentives. You can get a Silverado damn near the same price as the Colorado. "Cause you know they aren't going to budge on the Colorado's price. Maybe in a year or two, when they aren't selling like they thought they would.

I like the size of the mid-size trucks that is for sure, good for running around and light duty hauling. Anything else, pretty much useless.

Double cabs, 4WD...mentioned it in an earlier post.

Here you go.

Just did a build on their site...nothing fancy. Did both WT models (what self respecting overlander would need anything more, right? ), double cab, 4WD...did add the V6 to the Colorado. No other options were picked.

Ah, extended cabs.... more trucks no one buys.

And applying the current $2,750 rebate to the 2014 Silverado now that the 2015s are arriving... great apples to apples comparison!

I don't have kids, and I don't like playing taxi driver.

Extra cab is my favorite body configuration. Told ya, I don't follow the crowd. I like regular cabs too, though the only practical one right now is the Tundra with that space behind seats, love Toyota, but they need to step it up in the mileage department. Want to take a look see at the new F150 RC...see how much room is back their for my stuff.

Those 5' beds are useless (IMO of course), on both mid-size and full. The long bed crew mid-size is too long, might as well get a full size double cab with a 6.5 bed...wheel bases are similar, rear leg room is roughly the same.

Agreed. I'd personally buy a Silverado Double Cab 6.5' box compared to a Colorado Crew Cab 6.5' box...... did you realize they made a Colorado Crew with a 6.5 bed?

Yeah, I saw that. Might as well get a fullsize IMO. What is the payload difference between that and the Silverado DC6.5'?

I know the Tacoma DCLB's payload is pitiful.

That is MSRP. Who buys a vehicle on MSRP? I was speaking to the diesel Colorado to a gas Silverado anyway in my comments.

At the moment, there is $8500 on the hood of a Silverado crew cab LT All-Star edition. Given the beatings GM is taking from losing sales to RAM it is pretty safe to say the discounts will continue on the Silverado for quite some time to come. With typical tradition when a new product arrives such as the new Colorado it won’t have any money on the hood and even a greater chance the diesel never will and even if it does, it will be long time down the road.

The closest vehicle the with powertrain options similar to the Colorado powertrain is the RAM ProMaster van where it’s little diesel is a $4000 premium over the gas. Since no pricing has been announced on the diesel Colorado we’ll use the $4000 as a guesstimation as to the diesel in the Colorado.

Figure a crew cab standard bed Z71 4x4 Colorado with a gas has an MSRP of $35,290. Add another $4000 to that for a diesel option and you now have a $39,000 truck little truck. Add the up level radio and your well into the $40’s. Speculating here, but it is very unlikely any rebates will exist.

Meanwhile a crew cab standard bed 4x4 Silverado All-Star has an MSRP of $43,110. Take off the $8500 in rebates at now you have a $34,610 well equipped full size truck. My calculator says the gas full-size would be over $5000 less than a diesel Colorado as we can speculate as of now.

Sure you can use MSRP’s for comparisons because that is all we really have but we all know nobody buys anything on MSRP. Each deal will be different but I still suspect the diesel Colorado will cost more than a well-equipped Silverado in real world transactions but only time will tell! That said, I do believe the gas Colorado is priced right when compared to its big brother. It’s the diesel Colorado that is going to have to sell itself. Only those that really really want a little truck with a diesel will buy them, which the way people talk….GM dealers will have suckers lined up to buy the diesel Colorados one after another. If that turns out to be the case, deals and rebates will be skinny if at all. Deals and rebates don’t get applied to vehicles that sell well with no real competition.

Would I buy a Colorado?....yeah, maybe! Definitely a V6 gas. Neat little trucks! But I am one of those guys that have no rhyme or reason to what I want to buy. In seriousness, I am looking to buy a new ride sometime in early 2015 as it is getting harder to have a baby seat in my daily driver Silverado HD extended cab. It is now time to turn the baby seat around to forward facing but there isn’t room because the baby seat rests on the rear window of the extended cab. Even though none of these vehicles directly compete in the same arena they are what I like and are considering; Colorado Crew Cab Z71 4x4 short bed, 1WT Silverado 5.3L crew cab standard bed 4x4 (with vinyl interior…yes, I am one of those guys that like bare bones trucks), Ram Power Wagon Tradesman (or SLT) or VW Jetta GLI. Odd combination of vehicles to consider but I have a reason to consider each one of these. If I get the Colorado or Jetta, I’ll keep my 2001 Silverado. If I go for the Silvy or PW the 2001 Silverado will have to go mainly because I don’t have room to park everything now as it is. Already have 7 vehicles, which only one is conducive for baby hauling (wife’s 2014 Impala) LOL. I will forgo my GM discount and get the Power Wagon if the 6.4L impresses me and the deal is right. The 5.7L Hemi was not impressive at this altitude especially after driving 8.1L engines for the past 13 years. I test drove a Jetta GLI a few weeks ago and loved it! Poor mans BMW for sure.

Back to comparing green apples to red apples……….

I know the Tacoma DCLB's payload is pitiful.

The 2015 Colorado Crew Cab 3.6L auto 2WD with 6.5 bed has a curb weight 4,266 lbs, and has a 6,000 pound GVWR....so 1,734 lb max payload as a 2WD. If the 4WD version adds as much weight as it does in a Silverado, then subtract 244 pounds..... my guess is the Colorado Crew Long 4x4 would have a 1,490 pound max payload rating.

The 2014 Silverado Double Cab 4.3 auto 4x4 with 6.5 bed has a max payload rating of 1,971 pounds.

So the Silverado has a 479 pound payload advantage

The 2015 Tacoma Double Cab 4.0 auto 4x4 with 6.5 bed has a max payload rating of 1,215 pounds. So the Colorado may carry 275 pounds more gear.

I'd compare the 85th percentile sellers, not obscure enthusiast trucks. And compare MSRP to MSRP as that's the only constant. Rebates and incentives will always vary.

The best selling (retail consumer) Silverado is a Crew Cab 4x4 5'8" box LT with a 5.3L V8, convenience pkg, tow, and locker -- $44,310

A similarly equipped Colorado Crew Cab 4x4 LT with a 3.6L V6, convenience pkg, tow, and locker -- $34,150

No one will buy a flipping WT except Expedition fanbois
We're looking at it as a replacement to our '91 Toyota, but the Colorado is off my list because it can only be purchased with an automatic transmission. I'll deal with power windows if I have to but I won't buy an auto. I dunno if I'm a fanboi or whatever, but I'm on pace to replace my truck about every 15~20 years at this point and all that convenience crap just makes the truck prone to issues down the road. Our other vehicle is a base '02 Jetta GL (crank windows, no turbo, etc.), which we got primarily for the same reason. What is usually the issue with VWs? Dome lights that come on randomly when you roll down windows, not engines and drivetrains. Keep it simple.

Larry...a Jetta!!?? Have you lost your mind!?

Fun little cars for sure...after the ex-wife's problematic Jetta, that I damn near took out into the desert and burned it to the ground. I swore off late model VW's 4-Evar! :ylsmoke:

Me...on vehicle purchase...either build up that 70's F250 Crew with a Caddy heart...or buy new (what I don't know). Good friend of mine was in a horrific head-on collision a couple days ago in his brand new F150...they were lucky they weren't killed, they survived, but have serious injuries.

Safety is a concern, that is for sure. I was pondering a little commuter car...the car that hit them, the driver and passenger weren't so lucky. Commuter car is definitely off the list. Especially now that I moved to Idaho...lotsa diesel fullsizes running around.
