Apparently the Trailcutter RT shows up as a Multi mile brand tire as well...or this one is very similar!

I was seriously considering those about 18 months ago. The problem is, they are super rare, mail order only, and possibly non-replaceable. And there is almost zero information about them on the web. I would bet that with those huge center blocks, they must roar like hell.

They cost $180 then, now are $285? For that kind of coin just get the M-55 and be done with it!

This is up in canada that i posted from. So prices vary due to that. Plus they are regularly stocked at my local kal tire.

Thread from the dead...
From '98 to '05 I drove a standad cab '96 F350 with Firestone Wilderness AT tires in 255/85 and they looked perfect on the truck with the stock polished 7" wheels. Fast forward to 2013 and I recently purchased a crew cab '01 F350 and the 265/75 looks too small. I was glad to find this thread as the only tire that shows up on tirerack.com now in 255/85 is the BFG MT km2. I'm not so sure I want to go with an MT, however I like the look of the tire. What sort of life are people seeing with the MT km2? My old truck would go about 50K on the Firestones before they were total junk.

Side note, in '05 I bought a set of 8" wide MT classics and went the popular 285/75 route and just didn't like the look of the truck as much as with the 255/85.

I still own my '96 F350 and agree, 255/85 tires fit and function perfectly on the stock, Alcoa-made 16x7" wheels. I've also used 285s on the Ford but just don't care for them on this truck, though I use 285s on two other 4WDs.

As you've discovered, there are few 255/85 tires for sale these days, most are mud tires, and the wear will be faster. My F350 is not a daily driver so I don't mind much, and currently run Maxxis Bighorns.

Good luck with your tire search.

I figure I will try the Maxxis Bighorns. I can get them cheap enough they are worth a shot. If they dont work I may just default to the BFG AT in the 315/75-16. I really wish BFG would make the ATs in the 255 that would be great!

I just switched to BFG TA KO's in 285/71/17 or 33"
I am really impressed with them over the last few days exploring local trails in mixed conditions, they performed better than expected

I'm still hoping that Cooper will make the ST MAXX in a 255/85R16. I sometimes wish I would have purchase the 255/85 ST instead of my 285s STT. But the STT has been a great tire. If only they made it in a 255.

I will add that 255 85 is a very hard tire to find on short notice locally. I had no luck in any brand.

This is a very good point. I wanted tall skinnys on my F150 that came stock with 275/55r20 tires. I upgraded to 275/65r20 Nittos. Not only is this a relatively skinny 34" tire, it's the stock size on the hundreds of thousands of F250s that came stock with 20" wheels. This means it's available everywhere.
