This looks interesting.
Have used PC for the past 15 years now I'm checking on Mac to see why so many people are using it now.

Not wanting to start bashing or anything, but I have to use a Windows-based PC system at work. I keep a running list on my desk pad of all the crashes, freezes and other lunacy that requires IT help or a force quit and restart. I'm up to about 35 "events" over the past 6 months. It defies logic as to why this system is accepted by 90+% of the consumer market (and probably similat stats for business).

I've used Macs since 1986 and only twice (in 1993) did I have a major crash, both thanks to image downloads from AOL.

Macs and most other business platforms are just more stable. They just work!

Dang, no specs or price. I am curious what they are.

I am on the verge of purchasing a convertible notebook (converts to tablet) that also has a magnesium case and lots of cool goodies on it. It is a Windows machine though and I too am sick of the crashing, etc. Although I have to admit that XP Pro was the most stable windows OS I have had yet, and was really pretty nice for the first couple of years until the rot started to set in. Having said that, I am ready to put up with the windows BS to be able to use software that I already own, plus I really want a mobile solution for running Ozi Explorer. Ozi is one of the main reasons that I want to buy into mobility. On top of that, I am afraid using emulation stuff with a Mac to be able to use those aformentioned items will defeat the purpose of the Mac and slow things down too much.

I bet this will be a really cool machine though. Glad to see Mac doing this.

With the Dualcore processors you can boot up either operating system.

:iagree:

I run either Windows XP or Mac OS on my MBP natively... I use Boot Camp.

Mac OS s the norm, but I need XP for ID software such as Rhino, or CAD software such as ProE that are not offered for Mac OS. I'm positive that Ozi, or any other Windows software would work flawlessly without lag since Windows is running natively instead of through an emulator.

I hear you, there are a few programs that I use that require a PC. You can also run ArcGIS on a Mac now. Now that they use a USB dongle I can do everything on one computer.

I will say it is weird to get the "blue screen of death" on a mac.

I am a fan of Ozi, but I actually have really good luck with MacGPSPro and therefore don't see the need to use Ozi in the the truck. Right now I use an older G3 powerbook in the truck. I would like to get a 7"or 8" touch screen monitor and try out RouteBuddy, then I won't need PC software in the truck. Then I would have the system that fits my needs. Right now I just strap the laptop to the passenger seat. :hillbilly:

I need the current G4 powerbook to last a few more years till I upgrade the laptop. Then I can retire the G3's. It will be sometime before I move a dual core processor laptop into the truck though. The real reason I try really hard to use and find Mac native software for navigation.
