"The beauty of ephemeral photography"

creating photos intended to be viewed for just a few seconds
Now there's a concept I just can't come to grips with. It pisses me off that an electronic widget I design is out of date in 6 months, to take a photo that lasts only a few seconds is total anathema to me.

Personally I like the drink shot (#2 with ice), but the fact that we're even discussing it means that this is not "ephemeral photography", if it was just available for a few seconds I would not have given it the time of day as there would not have been time to look at the details.

What I can appreciate is just photographing "stuff" with no thought to winning a Pulitzer. I spent half my life looking for killer shots and almost none taking snapshots because they weren't "real" photography, now I regret not having the photos that most people have.

"Part of the appeal of Snapchat seems to be that people don't have to be too concerned about how they take a photo; the communication is more important here, and since no one's framing any of your pictures, there's no reason to sweat composition, lighting or anything else." Rubbish!

I think that's why I like the brake rotor picture; there isn't much to look at and all you need to see is the blacked steel to get a idea of the events that may have occurred. At least, it does that for e because I'm a mountain biker. It's like "that's cool" *snap*
