So I changed my mind on using the old trailer bed. After wasting a few days of work to get it all cut up I just decided building the new wheelwells will actually be a smaller task then I had thought so just decided to go with the latter.
So also after many days and nights trying to figure out which lift mechanism to use, actuators versus cables versus gas springs I decided to use the lift mechanism from my pop-up camper which I had lying around so I've been spending the morning cleaning everything up.
With this system I'll be able to rely on manual crank as backup but will use a screw drive to wind all the cables to do the lifting for me and connect it to 12 volt motor. I still might introduce gas springs to assist with the lifting but I want to try to minimize the amount of money invested as most of this build has been from parts that I had laying around.
I also picked up an eccotemp L5 water heater for the shower. They're so inexpensive for what it can do and nothing beats instant hot water
It's small enough to fit in the tail section but I'm still contemplating propane tank placement and don't really want permanent gas lines running through the trailer.
Anyway...some progress now as the trailer boxes are coming together
