WELCOME HOME! :wings: and thanks for serving! One question. What paint did you use on your XJ wheels? One comment... Uwharrie National Forest is only about 5 hours away, so when you are ready to head down here let me know. I am 30 minutes from the trails.

I grew up in the NOVA area- They have some beautiful country around that area. The jeep came together nicely.
Welcome back and thanks for serving!

Thanks guys! I can't express how good it is to be back in the states! And while I'm (very) slowly getting settled in I look forward to getting my jeeps back. I'm already plotting and scheming towards the "to do" lists and other upcoming build stuff. :)
I'll defiantly hit you up John when I do head out there to play. It may be a little while as both Jeeps need work but since there isn't a lot of really local areas to play I guess I gotta go where I can.
Looking forward to being here as I've never spent much time in the north of the east coast. Can't wait until Fall... or at least summer. :)

Argh!

Went out today to put some stuff in the Jeep and found a small chunk of splined tubing laying in the back. Crawled underneath to check since I KNEW it couldn't have been mine!?! Well... F me running! Seems the shipping people found a way to break my rear drive shaft and then "fixed" (term used VERY lightly!) it. Looks like they snapped an ear off the DS to Ford 8.8 adapter which must have caused the DS to come out of the tranny. Guess it broke off a chunk from the slip joint from hitting the ground? What's worse is they used a big nut to replace the now missing U joint cap and welded it to the adapter! The part that kills me is they didn't bother to tell me! FAK I'm pissed!

I will have to locate a new flange adapter for the U-joint to Ford 8.8 flange and I'll need a new slip coupler that goes over the tranny's output shaft. And a new U-joint as well... The shaft's tube seems fine but finding a 2wd drive shaft isn't going to be that easy so I'll see how it goes. I just hope there isn't any metal from the broken slip joint that fell into the tranny output housing...
