Sounds like you're just around the bend from finishing! Its been super exciting seeing this come together. This is one of my favorite platforms!

There are worse things in life than a Harbor Freight Winch, especially if you're trying to keep costs down.

I used a harbor freight winch on my last build, and literally hung the truck from a tree with it, so I know they aren't junk. This van isn't going to be a local wheeling machine, I won't be able to just call my buddy and have him save me with the wrecker. My 4 year old son and I will be traveling to remote locations, and at times will be MILES from anybody or anything, so I'm not taking a chance on a harbor freight winch when our lives depend on it.

I drove over to the smokey mountains to do some trading with a guy today, and I ended up with a brand-new Warn zeon 12 winch, 4 bilsteins, and a Yukon grizzly locker for the 14 bolt. I'm not sure how long these shocks will last, but they look good. Hopefully they get me by for a year or so anyway. The high-steer won't be here until next week, so it'll give me time to get the radiator/condenser in, harness ran, fuel tank and lines all hooked up, fill up some fluids, and build some shock mounts for these front shocks. It'd be nice to hear this thing fire up by the end of next week....

Hey, did you notice the black dog's butt hanging off the driver's side bumper? The dog butt is an xtra cost option !! :sombrero: BTW, I also run the Bilsteins, and they've been perfect, if a little firm.

These long leaf springs I used are VERY squishy, so I'm hoping the bilsteins stiffen it up enough to not have to add a leaf to the pack(s) or a sway bar. Maybe I'll luck-out and it'll be just the right combination and she'll ride perfect..... HAHA who am I kidding, I'll probably have to add $1000 worth of Currie Anti-rock sway bars to make er' right....oh well, it's only money right?! UGH :ylsmoke:

My treasure I brought back from the mountains..... It was sad to see the .308 go, but it was for the greater good. It just gives me a reason to build a new rifle now...haha Hopefully I can order up a high-steer kit and have it here by next week. In the meantime I'll run the harness, fuel lines and tank, and install radiator/condenser so I can start filling her up with fluids. Maybe, just MAYBE I'll hear her run by the end of the week?

The little man loved the trip, especially since we haven't been able to spend as much time together lately because of the build. My buddy's little honda fit got almost 40mpg traveling at 80 the entire way. That's awesome to be able to go 900 miles on less than $50 in fuel.

We stopped at the shop on the way out of town so Liam could see the van, and he LOVED it. Photo op!

Looks massive because it's so short, watching this build. In Canada it's highly frowned upon to weld a frame, or especially a unibody, not saying that it isn't done Well done sir!!
