The Lunchbox Build... 4x4 chevy shorty van

Sitting still is a very hard thing for me to do, so I waited a few days, then went out side and welded the extended arm back together enough so I could at least use the van. I wanted to go camping over the weekend, it was time to just relax.... I still have to move the "stop" for the slider up 5", but I can at least open the door for now.

I also picked up a seat out of a conversion van off of craigslist for $40, one that would fold out to a bed. It will prove to be much better for sleeping and just hanging out in general. I'm going to try and find some inexpensive black seat covers that fit over this and the front buckets, I'd just be happy with a dark color at this point.

While I was in Paducah, I stopped by Harbor Freight and picked up a set of off-road lights, $24 with my 20% off coupon. I didn't have time to wait for a light bar to ship, I wanted to go camping! lol I'm happy, they are bright as hell and really make night trail riding a lot more fun.

So we wheeled for the day and found a nice remote spot to set up camp. Having this folding seat is so much more convenient than dealing with an air mattress or the school bus seat idea I was originally trying to do.

I decided that she's going all white for now, and I'll maybe (probably) do a digital urban camo pattern over the top in the future. This stuff is $19.99 at Tractor supply, so I bought 2 gallons with $10 worth of hardener, and some foam rollers. I'm going to put some filler over my patch panels and scuff the rest of the body, then ROLL this stuff on. I think it's going to work out perfect for what I'm trying to do... When it gets scratched up, I can just roll another coat on....:sombrero:

My staples come out tomorrow, so hopefully I can get back to work. I'm going to pick up a new water pump and hoses (factory one is seeping) in the morning, and replace that stupid chrome tranny pan, then hopefully this beast will be mechanically sound. I realized my fuel tank seeps a little bit, so I'm going to spend the $80 for a new one and get that done next week too. I lost 2 weeks with this stupid chest wound, but the vacation was much needed. I was just worn the hell out and was getting complacent, and it almost cost me my life.....

Dude that's awesome! A year from now you can tell all the newbs around here some BS about the night you took on The Crips and The Bloods in a Del Taco parking lot and sent 'em all screaming like little girls, with a 6' blade sticking out of your chest. :)

I know right?! It's going to be a wicked-*** scar! I'm lucky I made it out, with really nothing more than a bruised ego....

Yeah, power tools are no joke. ******** can go south real fast when you aren't careful.

Not tool related but your scar reminds me of this dude that used to work for me. Guy could take his shirt off and pass for a real life Frankenstein monster. Scars every freakin place with a real beaut that went from his breastbone dang near to his junk. Only guy I know to hit a train and live, TWICE.

I've ran through a barb-wire fence on a four wheeler, stuck my head through a windshield when my car left the road, flipped a truck at 75mph and I was hanging out of it while it was flipping, and now this.... I think it's time I stop tempting fate, not sure how many more lives I have left...:Wow1:

I did the barbed wire thing once. Not a boatload of fun, hehe. And although it's not all that damaging, you haven't really lived till you take a leak on an electric fence. Did that once and I swear I saw God, Muhammad, and Santa Claus all at the same time.

Not too far back, and also current, Naugles just opened back up in Huntington Beach, guy bought the rights and the original recipes. I used to eat there as a kid, I remember the switch from Naugles to Del Taco.

Way back for me. Last time I chowed on a Naugles breakfast burrito was about 1983. Me and a buddy used to make chow runs out the back gate of base when we worked the night crew. Had some awesome strawberry shakes too.

Scar looks almost as tough as the van. Glad you made it out alive and keep getting out in the van. Cut wheels are a nasty tool, it's probably better you cut you chest, and not a tendon or a whole finger or fingers.

Also be wary of sanding discs. I was holding a handrail I'd just made with my feet while I sanded the arc welds (standing on it). I just grazed my foot, and the disc went through an 1/8" of leather, a pair of socks, and left a 2" last by cut in the side of my foot. Off to Emerg I went.

Scary stuff, it's easy to get complacent and bad stuff will happen in the blink of an eye... We've all been there. Glad you're ok.

We'll have to fine tune our stories... Your chest... My neck also (carefully by neurosurgeon). It could be much more fun to come up with a good tale :D
