Hey all,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Jon and I'm totally new to the overland scene. I bought a 2002 Xterra SE Supercharged not to long ago and am now getting to the point I want to start beefing her up. She's got lots of miles on her 216k to be exact and besides a leak in the supercharger somewhere she's running strong. What started this all is, after my brother in-law took me out 4wheeling and I broke a motor mount and tore the intake tube. I replaced them with OEM parts but started looking into beefing the Xterra up. I stumbled onto this website and started reading all the build threads, well it took about 30 seconds to realize I wanted to do this to mine. I'm an avid camper/outdoorsy type of guy so this just fits. I also race a YZ450F in a local desert racing series here called the NMDRC so I'm no stranger to off-road travel. My build will be slow as I am a newish father and he takes most of our money. But here she is. . . .

Yeah, it should be pretty easy. A lot of the fab/metal work will be custom. I have a buddy that builds custom stuff for race/drag/hot rod cars and he was totally on board with getting his hands dirty making the front/rear bumpers and a new roof rack. I just gotta come up with the cash to buy the material. I ordered the Supercharger rebuild kit for it to get that god awful noise it makes to go away. Anyway, thanks for the welcome, hope to see you guys at a meet up or something someday.

Welcome! Great looking X. I have an 04, about 200k on the clock, still running strong as well. There are definitely some simple and relatively inexpensive mods you can do to make the Xterra very capable. For less than $1k I added a front Lokka, PML, rear AAL, Bilstein 5100s, Timbren bump stops and recovery points. Paired with good tires, my rig doesn't bottom out carrying plenty of weight, and climbs everything I've thrown at it. My wife and I sleep comfortably in the back and the only time it's stranded us is when the intake tube cracked at night when it cooled off. A little duct tape and we were good to go. Enjoy your X, looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

Cheers, John

Another welcome to Expo! Clean looking first gen. Just be sure, if you haven't already, to get the timing belt replaced. It can go kaput real fast if that thing goes. Otherwise, looking forward to the future additions!
