The power of photography.

A thread Stan posted reminded of this. I know a lot of people discount photography in their day to day lives but THIS photo essay is but one example the power photography holds. Warning, the photo essay is very visual, and is tough to watch, but it is an excellent example of how powerful imaging can be.

Perhaps we could use this as a stepping off point for further discussion on the power of imaging.

All I can say is seeing images like that and the story behind them makes ANY image I've ever taken seem so worthless

I would love to have such an assignment that would move me like this

Great find Trevor, i seen this on a photo, forum thought the same thing.
If art is meant to provoke thought and feeling, this really hits the mark.
Every Miles, every artist, be it painter or photographer, who studies to capture something specific and is willing to do what is needed to reach that goal, has the opportunity to provoke deep emotional reactions to their work. War, poverty, and suffering seem to stand out the most because it stays with us long after we have viewed it and is usually easier to find. To be able to create long lasting happiness through visual stimulation is much harder to achieve because most people forget about how happy they were a few short hours ago. (i think that came out right)

It came out right John, I understand what you're trying to explain and I agree! Thanks for making me look at both sides of the coin
