The Problems with Point-N-Shoot Cameras

So here is a good example of one of my pet peeves with PNS cameras. The built-in lens cap! I hate them!

This would have been a good photo otherwise!

I used to encounter those Dual Eclispe's all the time till I threw out my P&S

Uh ... wouldn't you see this lens cap malfunction on the LCD display
of a modern point and shoot before you snapped the photo? Or are

Well, probably, but I wear polarized sunglasses and when I turn the camera into Portrait orientation, the image dissapears. Also, sometimes the blades stick a bit less obtrusively and it's not as obvious. When I use the optical viewer, there are no blades because its not an SLR...

In this image, I was holding the camera down low, below my knees, so was not eyeballing it using any method other than the TLR method.

The Canon A series is notorious for the retractable lens cover not to fully open. A while back my first digital was the Canon A530 and that began to happen often. My solution? I unscrewed the lens ring and the blades that made up the retractable lens cover came out and problem solved. I made sure when I carried the camera I had it covered with a cloth.
