Thanks for taking going to the effort to share the writeup and the photos. That's a really fine truck with some really skillful mods, and I appreciate you sharing.

You are welcome. I crammed lots of info in the first page, but in a way, it seems to not be so fragmented. Now I can add stuff as it comes up

thanks

So cool! Nicely done, I like how simple but effective your build is. That comes with experience! My next vehicle will be an FJ!

First off, I need to be in your line of work. Secondly, that is one ************ FJ. I love the body color.

FJ's are an acquired taste. It's been acquired in me for over 6 years now :D

My real line of work is entirely different than modifying my vehicles. The way I can do it without completely spending a fortune is, trying to learn to do it all myself. Hopefully , I can make a little mod money with some of my ideas ;)

Don,
Another build begins....
The console/screen set up in the previous "yellow beast" was over the top.
Will be curious to follow the progress of this new one

I will be doing a different style camera system. I won't have the overhead console like before . I am going to try and make it all tablet/ipad based. i have a few other ideas too. Total Vision and I are in the research/planning stage.

How does the FJ do on fuel?
the way it's set u, gets about about 15/17 . Pulling a trailer, closer to 10-12 depending on how much of a hurry I am in

Love this truck. I wish I had that paint on my Tacoma! Nice rack, too.:Wow1:

Thanks. I think a Tacoma would look sharp in this color. Maybe they will offer it one of these years

I'm surprised why the FJ gets not so great fuel economy. Isn't the new 4.0 V6 suppose to me more fuel efficient? I know the new 4runners get slightly better gas mileage than the previous gens. And the 5th gen 4runner looks huge compared to the FJ. I would think the FJ does better than the 5th gen 4runner.

After a lift and 255 BFG KM MT's im seeing 21 MPG all freeway in my 4runner. This is from the computer though.

FJ's have the aerodynamics of a brick. adding a winch bumper, bigger tires, lifted yada yada yada, the aerodynamics sure don't get better. I didn't buy my FJ for mileage. I bought it to get out in the dirt , adventure and feel good driving it .
If I babied it, I suppose I could push it to 18-19 , but I probably won't.

you probably need to check your mileage against GPS THe speedo's are typically off . My first fj was 2 % off from new. after I put on 285's it was almost dead on. When I went to 35's I was 5 % off the other way.

I think many of us do not buy these rigs for mileage. I am starting to like the one tone colors of the FJ. I never liked the two tone look with the white roof.

But I have to say your FJ looks sweet. Love the color!

Another update is the Ricochet Skids
I took them to a local powder coater Arizona Powdercoat
They had a color names Hi-Tech Gray that looked pretty close to the Cement color, so that's what I went with. It took a full 10 working days to get them back, but was worth it for the quality
This is just part of what I sent them

While waiting for the skids, I did a little Urban Wheeling on the neighbors rock pile.

Next is wiring the roof rack, which I started today
There will be (4) VisionX Solstice 2' lights (2) on each side and 2 Solstice Prime 2' lights for the back, switched for each side, then the back
Baja Designs 40" Stealth bar/ with the Spylight Actuator. I ran a 18awg (7) wire harness around the inside perimeter with all the prime lights using a common ground.
The Solstice lights took (4) wires and the actuator took another (2). For now they will run into the back door, to a blue sea 10 circuit fuse panel, then switch up front.
The Stealth bar takes it's own harness (2) 12awg and (1) 18awg to run the strobe function with a relay of course

I have the roof wired, now the inside stuff will be wired tomorrow
more to come..
