the saga of a major repair to an aluminum F150

Other than the fact that the 200 uses a Tundra frame that is 20% stronger than a Tundra? That they have catered to the high end market and have lost market share in the U.S. since then. That most of the Land Cruisers on this site are bought used. That they build a very reliable vehicle but it is becoming more of a Cowboy Cadillac than a Denali or Escalde. What more would you like to teach me?

And where is your evidence for this? They are built on an entirely different platform, with completely different axles and suspension to a specific design, in a different part of the world. The only thing they share is the engine and transmission.

Anyways not trying to turn this into a F-150 vs. Land Cruiser thread. And yes Ford sells a **** ton more of them then Toyota sells land Cruiser, who cares? The point being is that an F-150 can fetch $70k. What does this have anything to do with the Land Cruiser? It would be better to compare it to A High Country Silverado, Which starts at an MSRP of $49k.

I've read from more than 1 source about the frame. The electronic library called the Internet is full of info. It was even mentioned here in a Toyota designers discussion with Kurt about the new Land Cruiser. I'm not making this stuff up and it wasn't me who expressed dismay at a 70,000 dollar Ford Platinum pickup. I also agree with your premise that comparing to a Chevy truck is more logical. I just made the comment that Land Cruiser prices are pretty high as well and since they have gone upscale they have lost market share. Look at Land Cruiser sales numbers for the last 10 years, easily searched. Toyota sells way more Land Cruisers in other countries with way less creature comforts than are sold here. Our market will pay for them to be more upscale, so Toyota offsets the volume by profit margin per unit. Let's be honest here though, how many people do you know who take a brand new U.S. Spec Land Cruiser and go overlanding in it?
