When returning back north this autumn I forgot to drain the water system. When I remembered 24 hours after getting home the Whale water pump was frozen solid, even a blasting electric heater would not unfreeze it. So I pulled the pump and water lines out to thaw it and check damages. The pump seemed ok, but I decided to open it up to make sure I would not get any surprises next time I am above freezing and put it to use.

Everything looks good. I am fairly surprised as it was frozen solid and I figured I would need to at least buy some new parts. I will grease the O rings and put it back together.
And yes, the timeline between pulling the pump out of the camper and taking it apart was over a month.
Ive got the same pump, and made the same mistake.
Froze SOLID in a north Idaho early winter cold snap.
Pump survived. i thought I got lucky. Seeing you managed the same outcome makes me feel much better. Those pumps are money WELL spent.

It was Alley-Kat on his thread on WtW. There are lots of other good ideas on his thread, good to check it out.
Whew, I feel much better knowing who put the idea in my head. Thanks for the great idea Alley-Kat!
