There’s been a lot of news recently about the Lordstown EV truck plant developments

A newer player planning to built EV trucks (as well as a crossover) has been getting lots of press lately,especially with new funding being pumped into the project.

Here’s a pic of their proposed EV truck they’re calling the Endurance:



They also supposedly are contracted to even build Fiskers here too, so I’m a bit confused as to where the Endurance is going to be a completely different and separate model/brand. At any rate, the Endurance, the pickup has been represented in a series of pictures on the company's website, and a few of its projected capabilities have already been posted.

“The Endurance promises a range of at least 250 miles, a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds and a starting price of $52,500 while offering a quad-cab layout. Four electric motors, one for each wheel, are expected to offer a combined output of 600 hp.” (per the company)

I haven’t seen much written up here on Expo about the Endurance so I’m adding this new EV truck to the list here today

Just recently it was announced they’ve actually started to build models of this truck, albeit very slowly rolling them off the production line:

• Lordstown completes two Endurance electric pickups meant for customers, after years of delays.
• The company plans to build a batch of 50 pickups by the end of the year, but indicates that completing the rest of a 500-truck batch will be "subject to raising sufficient capital."
• Apple iPhone maker Foxconn has entered into an agreement to operate the Ohio plant several months ago to build the Endurance pickup, with plans to build future Fisker models.

Getting this new infusion of much needed capital from Foxconn has been a huge boost to actually getting this manufacturing process rolling. But retail, individual buyers will have to wait quite a while yet to own one of these rigs as the company says, to gain traction, it is going to sell only to commercial fleet buyers to start with!

“After several eventful years, Lordstown Motors says it has launched series production of the Endurance electric pickup at the Ohio plant that was once a GM factory, completing two pickups intended for customers. That GM factory is now owned and operated by China's Foxconn, better known stateside as the producer of Apple's iPhone, with the electronics giant having bought its way into the EV business earlier this year.

Lordstown noted that it has built two pickups this far, with a third "expected to be completed shortly."

"These vehicles are part of the first batch of up to 500 saleable vehicles that we intend to build," the company noted.

The launch of production is a long-awaited milestone for the company, which has endured a rocky journey to arrive at this point, including plenty of money issues, a political appearance by former VP Mike Pence, and executive reshufflings. Lordstown experienced all this and more prior to the factory's purchase and the signing of an operating agreement with Hon Hai Technology Group, Foxconn's parent company.

The launch doesn't alleviate a number of other concerns about the pickup's longer-term viability, however.”

Stay tuned…this could be your next/first EV truck (one suggested starting MSRP was @$52,000 IIRC).

And the stock (RIDE) might be worth a YOLO at $1.50 a share. It's knife catching though, high was over $30

So… they are essentially building trucks as fast as I build them! Also subject to my ability to raise sufficient rotating capital… and not drink too much on weekends…. ?

All the more recent articles put the base price of the Endurance much closer to $65,000, in which case, it compares pretty poorly against the Ford Lightning Pro that starts at $52k.

The Lightning has:
More power (452hp vs 440hp)
Is far quicker (4.1s vs 6.3s to 60mph)
20% more range: 240 miles vs 200 miles
Double the payload: 2235lb vs 1050lb
Similar towing with "max tow" package ($3k with required 240V outlet package, still $10k cheaper than Endurance): 7700lb vs 8000lb
More interior space in almost every dimension
40% more frunk volume
Faster home charging (due to driving efficiency)
Faster DC Fast charging (41 mins to add 156 miles vs 45 mins to add 120 miles)
Same size central touch screen
Available 240V bed charging
Lane keeping, standard
Carplay, Android Auto, and Navigation

Not sure why anyone would buy the Lordstown over the Lightning Pro unless it was a matter of availability or they think they just HAVE to have the 4 in-wheel motors, for some reason.
