Also, I know it doesn't affect nature or anything, but wearing a clean shirt and looking hygienically pleasant reduces the "all off-roaders are ignorant rednecks with no respect" image.

This is absolutely vital for a long overland trip too. Walking into an embassy to get a visa in clean clothes, and a fresh shave (for the guys) gets a much more favorable response, it shows respect for the people that you are there to see.

Smile and wave, I can't say how many grumpy people we passed on ATV's, motorcycles and other trucks last weekend. Good grief, if they are having such a lousy time they should have stayed home and watched TV.

Thats a great idea. Never thought of offering to pack out trash, but why not. I think I'll start carrying extra water too.
