Thinking about an old dodge camper van... Input needed

So when they introduced the "express" series of vans they must have gone back to frame on body

Thanks for the pic, THAT is what I expected when I thought of a unibody van

I looked for a 4x4 for quite awile too. Ended up with an AWD Astro. Not the perfect solution but it works great for me. Astro would be awfully small for 4 people in my way of thinking. I guess it could be done but I find it cramped with just me in there for a weekend. It is more capable off the pavement than I ever expected and works really well in the little snow I've been in.

Right after I got the Astro a mid 80's 4x4 chevy with a full camper conversion showed up on craigs list for $6k.. Much better van for what I wanted and it was cheaper than the Astro. If I had just waited a little longer..

I've looked at the awd Astros and they seem ideal if I was just the 2 of us but would be a bit tight for 4.

Maybe I'll just have to keep my eyes open for a good used awd express.

Are there any aftermarket fiberglass high tops for the express vans? If there was, that would seal the deal for me.
