Should be pretty neat! For people like my parents who only travel around 300 miles a day, range wouldn't be a huge problem.

So crystal balling, if you could have pure electric RV, solar charge or plug in or ???? and never need to buy fuel, never worry about contaminated fuel, never need a jerry can......... even if the range was like 200 miles...... would you buy it? go around the world technically for free...... who knows maybe get 500 miles in Australia or the Shara or Baja........ why care about the fossil fuel debate or the GREENS screaming about extinction. If you could travel for years for free...
And just think, one energy system, not diesel for the engine, propane to cook, a generator for lights.... just a solar array and some batteries. Even if you roll it in the dunes, no oil spill, no dangerous fuel spill, set it back on its wheels and go.

Here an International E-Star that's been equipped with a huge solar array, attempting to travel Deadhorse to Terra del Fuego. They've been at it a couple years already, had a storm destroy their first array.

I'm holding off on buying a new expo rig specifically for this. The all-electric will be so much simpler assuming I can get 200 mi range with some sort of a camper on the back I'm happy.

There is. It's very minimal. Ultimate in 5+ years will be a rugged AWD van with fixed solar panels on roof and a hardshell batwing awning w/ solar panels on top that retracts. Fill up your onboard 250 mi range at a supercharger station, when you are out in the wilderness deploy the awning during the day and get another 50ish miles a day of travel, cooking, eBike recharge. etc.

I love solar on vehicles and have had systems on our campers for over 30 years...Anyone remember ARCO panels? Our current system has 1200 watts and Battleborn lithium batteries, with Victron controllers, and it works fantastic, But...
When camping in trees and canyons, or bad weather, shade of high mountains, or the short days of winter, solar has limits that no system can overcome. Traveling in open terrain with bright sunny days is great, but we travel in many locations where those conditions are not typical.
There is good and bad to every source of power, and the future holds many new ideas, but a mix of power options still works well and, IMHO, is still the best option..
