Those hard to undo fuel filters

Hi:
Having trouble taking my fuel filter out. The wrench is big bux for just occasional use. What do others use to remove the plastic housing? Or does anyone have a source for a less expensive tool that won't destroy the housing.

Not sure what exactly your fuel filters look like but mine looks like an oil filter. I used an oil filter wrench with a bicycle chain like adjustment mechanism. (I think)

Hi Kerry my truck is a 2006. Perhaps Mitz went with the plastic outer housing for later models.

Mine is a 2006 and I use a chain wrench on the plastic housing. I move it around the housing as I'm unscrewing it to not put too much stress in one spot. The last time I changed it the housing was still siphoning fuel after it was open and the filter was out. I ended up with nearly a gallon of diesel in my drain pan before I was done. Not sure why that happened.
