Thoughts on this as a base for a build?

Would you guys consider this to be a good starting point. Alum-Line aluminum cargo trailer that appears to be in good shape. It’s an auction item and it’s not bid up too high yet. Ends tonight

It depends on the use, if your bumping around crawling rocks I dont know if I would trust aluminum, it fatigues. If you just making a hauler with a tent on top then its probably fine.

If it works for you, you likely can't beat it. The box looks like welded construction which is a big plus.

I think it looks like a great starting point if the shape matches what you want. Aluminum fatigues but depending on how well it was built, it probably won't matter. Steel can fatigue too if not designed well plus it is more likely to corrode/rust. If you don't like it, you could probably put knobby tires on, spray paint the wheels black and sell it for a profit anyway.

I was looking to start with a trailer like that but I plan to do some off-road trailers and hopefully take it thru some nasty stuff and decided the aluminum wouldn't be good for that type of driving. If you plan to just do some gravel roads then it should work great.

Thats the kind of thing, challenge I like as a starting point. Way more fun to make a solid trailer work than start from scratch.

I ended up passing on it. It went for $2500 or so but there was an 18% buyers premium tacked on. I can spend a little more and get a better foundation I believe. Thanks for all of the insight fellas

Trailers are stupid expensive right now just like vehicles.
