Great sites to investigate, thanks.

Does anyone have details of how these coach builders are front hingeing the tops and maintaing water tight sealing? Sorry for the random thought, not a hi-jacking attempt.

Thanks for the links!

Does anyone know if there's anything of a similar design & quality available in the U.S.? I've searched and searched over the past few months and can't find anything comparable.

here's one design but there are many types with rubber covers etc.

You could also do it using a standard hinge with a gasket seal behind / or baffle....ie water would go through hinge-hit baffle then drain down.

Some one here posted a wheeling in germany thread...there were some great trucks on there and if you looked closely the dark grey 110 landrover had a pop top
sandwiched between the original roof and the body...probably most did'nt notice as it was so well done

The one from innovations got me excited. I didn't see an 80 version, too bad. I tried to copy the picture but it didn't work for me, anyway it is the one that they built from the front doors back. I don't need the rear doors, and I think it would be the cat meow for me and my wife. I just need someone in the states that can build something like that on an 80 and life would be too good.

Fantastic bit of kit, if only the wife understood the difference between wanting and needing.

I don't want it... I need it.

I know we have a "Funny Sign" thread, but I couldn't find the "Funny Interjection of English in the Middle of a German Website" thread . . .

So I'm looking through all of the interesting stuff on the Tour Factory website, struggling to puzzle out what I'm looking at and wishing my college German classes weren't decades behind me, when I come across this:

Thetford.jpg

How, well . . . ODD. (I wonder if that's the official slogan of Thetford in Europe. Way catchier than North America's "The Thetford Name is Your Assurance of Quality.")

FWIW, though, I own two of this model and I agree with the sentiment. :)
