oh yeah and i wanted to tell you that that WAS a good article. i agree with your statements and am glad to see that your club promotes responsible use.

my experiences here have, for the most part, been very different. i just wish that more people would look at it like you, me, or the rest of the people on this board...WHATEVER your preferred mode of off highway transportation may be.

im a firm believer in the need for an OHV license endorsement. that would allow for something to be actually be done about those who break the law, tear things up, and generally ruin it for the rest of us. you can be arrested for driving a car without a license, why shouldnt it be the same for some moron whos tearing up a meadow just for the fun of it???

Arizona did just do something like that, of sorts, all OHV's under 1800 pounds are required to have an OHV sticker, the proceeds will go for trail signage, trail building & maintenance, education and law enforcement. http://www.azgfd.gov/outdoor_recreation/ohvFAQ.shtml

I don't think we necessarily need an endorcement for offroad travel. (a basic class would suffice, though)..Hell, people can't even follow the rules with a regular driver's license.

Do I have to get an OHV decal on my XR200R that is licensed with a regular motorcycle registration?

Depends....if you use it exclusively onroad, then no. If you use it somewhere in the middle. You will have to get an OHV sticker, but, here is the good news, your, VLT (vehicle license tax) will be only $3.00.

Since you are already registured, you can do through Service Arizona, when you renew your registration.

More info here (watch the fluff, some guys aren't too happy about the sticker ;))

i know people cant follow the rules either way, i would just like to see some way for the rules to be enforced and the ones who break them to be punished without having our trails closed.

I'll be at a presentation/meeting with the BLM this weds, there is something they are about to try in So NV. to help address this with trained volunteers. They just don't have the manpower or funds to police/educate for the lands they manage in So. NV & elsewere.

I'll post up more info hopefully on Thursday.

And that is the thing...with the economy the way it is, I see the funds raised by the AZ OHV sticker, being funneled into something else. You can have all the rules and laws you want, if you don't have enough money to enforce them, they are useless.
