Thule T2 rack with a 29er is this normal?

I just bought a karate monkey for $350 and. Am preparing to drive an hour back to LA and was wondering if this is normal? New rack and I've never had a 29er before an. I would hate to send my new baby sliding down the 101.

Looks like the rack is too short, but so long as that strap is tight and doesn't come loose it shouldn't really matter any. Tug on it some to make sure it's good, but thats all I would do.

I use a T-2 for my 29er all the time. My T2 doesn't have that unusual fit. Something seems off. There's a good 5" of bar behind my wheel block.

It's an older 916 that sat in my garage for two years so I. May be too short. I had to press it into service be ause the back of the 60 is full of kids bikes.

The front wheel holders are on backwards. That's what happens when you assemble things with a four year old asking you questions.
