Time For A New Truck!

Congratulations! Great looking truck! My Hemi 2500 has been great as well. I have about 30K on it with zero issues. Oil changes are cheap, and the mileage average has been between 14.8 and 16.1 for the duration of ownership depending on usage for that time period. I've been letting the dealer service this one due to having the Max Care Unlimited Mileage Warranty on it and my wifes Chrysler 300.

Interesting! My fender flares came it today and I installed them tonight. Now my truck looks exactly like yours!

Plans for this truck are very mild. Towing a 6k pound toy hauler back and forth to New Mexico/ Arizona from Boston area every year. A few 200 miles trips here in New England. I have other cars for daily driver. My 12 year old 2006 had near 200k. That works out to about 16k miles a year. At such a low mileage, gas consumption and fuel cost really won’t matter. Piece of mind is much more important.

As far as mileage on the 2006 Diesel, no matter how I drove it, I never saw over 18mpg. I’ve spoken to dozens upon dozens of 5.9 owners who were getting the same results. When we hear about 25-30 mpg with 8000 pound trucks, we just shake our heads as we can’t understand how they are doing it. Not saying they can’t, just we don’t understand how.

Fender flares were installed this evening. Stainless nerf type running boards will be here tomorrow as will mud flaps. Other than that, maybe a stainless steel bull bar.....I have a cap with side tool boxes that will be installed this weekend

Congrats.

There's nothing wrong with a gasser shifting gears. That's just diesel fan nonsense. Don't fear the gear. Let the engine spin up and scream! I'll take reliability, less weight, and less cost, over going too fast in a truck, any day.

First time you pull the trailer you will wonder what the h-ll you did. But just let that 6.4 sing and you will find it pulls real hard when you need it to. I pull A little heavier than what your planning and I have no complaints. I also regeared to 4.56's and that really woke it up on the mountain passes.

Well, 250 miles so far and loving it. Hand calculated mileage is 17.5mpg. 70 miles highway. The remainder around town. But of course I'm babying it for the first few hundred miles. Once I show it who's boss, I'm sure this will go down.....
