A couple of alternative suggestions
I have had a lot of experience with Goodyear MT/Rs on my Lancruisers. This is a serious off-road tire, clears mud pretty well, is durable, and seems to offer good sidewall strength with three plys on the sidewall in the LT 15" models. They are a bit too noisy on the road for me, but are one of the few tires that I have not had a sidewall cut ruin the tire.
As a combination on-off road tire, I am currently running a set of 285/75/R16 Revos on my 80 series cruiser. They are remarkably good road tires, and quiet, but I have not used them off road enough to properly render an opinion.
The Cooper tires have earned a small but loyal following. I liked them when I looked at them, but opted for the Revos. I would have liked a 33" high tire with a little less width, but am happy with the Revos.
