Time to stop lurking! Newb Intro

Greetings:
I've decided to stop lurking and try to contribute what I can to this forum. I am a regular on MUD and was introduced to this sight by a buddy (Andrew Walcker--spends his time in the trailer and land rover section). I am now addicted to another site having to do with the landcruisers and the outdoors.

I got the bug for an fj40 about 4 years ago. Found one on Pirate4x4 being sold in Nor-cal (I'm in Socal) and drove up and bought it. Great rig. My daughter and I spent a great deal of time in it together. However, when the second child (son) came, thought it was time to get rid of the 40 and move on to the 60 series. Sold it to a friend (never do that, you have to keep looking at it!) and bought a 60 with a rebuilt engine. However, they had screwed up the rebuild and it immediately blew a headgasket. Took a while to do that, since I am a 1 Banana mechanic, but did it and learned a great deal.

The vehicle currently has 230K, needs a transfer case and a p/s gearbox replacement, but besides that it is in great shape! Future mods to come

in the meantime, bought an 80 series to use as a daily driver (would love to build that up), and had kid #3 (son#2).

Still deciding whether to sell the 60 and build the 80, but have both right now.

best part is, just purchased an adventure trailer from a guy who won the Cal4wd raffle a few years ago. Can't wait to use it with the kids. Need to buy a bigger tent however. . .

that's it, don't get out as much as we should as the little ones are still pretty small, but plan many adventures as they become more "road-ready". Lots of surfing, camping, mountain biking, and more in the future.
good to meet you all and love the rigs and ideas here.

Nice set-up!

I really like the 60 & 62 wagons. Yours looks great with the trailer. That's a very good find. Looks like you've got plenty of adventure buddies ready to go too.

Welcome to the forum -
