Timing belt/mark question and a few others

Drivers side is on point...

Passenger side almost a full tooth off.

Is this maybe why it's throwing a P0300 code? Do I just turn that cam until the marks line up? Is this common? Looks like this is the 2nd time for this truck to get a new belt. 1st timing being on its build date.

Also found that the crank sensor jacket is broken...what the hell has this been doing to the motor?

Discovered an aftermarket alternator. Is it a POS and I should replace it Pronto.....not sure if Monteros eat a lot of alternators.

Just curious how much I can get away with in the Montero.....or is it a "if it ain't broke...." kind of vehicle?

well that cam gear being off will either advance or retard that cam by 5ish degrees not really a good thing to be out, its kinda hard to tell by the picture could be camera angle to me it looks like half a tooth which could mean either one head maybe both have been milled over spec so it is throwing the timing off. i'd do it over again, along with a oem tensioner. going with a new oem alternator is a pretty good idea alot of the chinese rebuilt parts store alternators are know to leave you broke stuck and fubared, having said that on my diesel i bought a NEW chinese made alternator and didn't have any issues with it.

ooh and on that plug i'd change that as long as its been pluged in and holding shouldn't be causing any issues unless the connection is really loose.

Connector I’ll re-pin if I can find one. I can’t really wait for parts right now it’s my dd. And truck only has 68k on it so doubtful it’s had head work. Alternator will probably remain as I’m not flush right now, new tensioner is a definite!
