Comression fittings do not work on coated or rusty tubing and are not legal for fuel lines or brake lines.

They actually work very well, depends on how rusty. I have them on my truck, and as I mentioned, you need to clean up the line to remove the rust. If they are illegal, tell Dorman that, they sell thousands of them! I agree on brake lines, much higher PSI. Compression fittings on fuel lines are a proven solution. Any auto parts supplier sells them for that purpose.
