Tire advice for 1st gen Tundra

I've got an 04 Doublecab with Rancho 5000 shocks (on there when I bought it). Pretty sure it's still at stock height. Blew a tire, so I'm going to go ahead and replace the whole set (LTX M/S 265/70/16). I'd like to go taller, but I don't want to put much strain on the drivetrain. Here's what I'm down to:

265/75/16: I'd almost certainly go with the new BFG AT KO2s. Just never been a huge fan of that size.

255/85/16: Will they fit if I just add Bilsteins to the front? Will they fit with the Ranchos I have now? Would either go with Cooper ST Maxx or BFG AT KO, since they don't make then new version in this size.

235/85/16: Slightly taller than the 265/75 but also narrower. Slightly concerned they may be too small for the truck. If I went this route, I'd get the new BFG AT KO2 when they come out in that size in a few months.

I'm not a fan of the Rancho shocks that are on my truck; it rides extremely stiff. I am considering putting Bilsteins all around or going with OME, but I really don't want to drop all that money at the same time If I could go ahead and get the tires and run them on the current suspension for awhile, I'd prefer to do that.

I've always had BFGs on my previous trucks and found them to be great for my uses.

255/85/16 will fit with a 2" lift and some pinch weld massaging. I think of the sizes you listed, you will be happiest with those.

235/85/16 look too small on the Tundra, IMO. I used to run them as my winter tire and dreaded the day when I had to take my summer's off. I vote 255's and some massaging.

I am running 285 x 75 17's on my DC Tundra. I did set my Bilsteins at 2" and added AAL springs to rear for added payload. I am running FJ Cruiser wheels, and put a 1.25" spacer on the front to give me a little clearance from my upper control arm.

Agree 235's are too small been there done that, 255s kick *** but very limited tire choice, 285s are also awesome but need spacers or wider offset rims, more massaging but wide tires do look super mean

This is my truck with an OME lift and 265 ST Maxx tires...

I almost went with 255's this go round but I just put 4 of the 265's back on today...

Thanks for the replies with pics! I think I'm probably going to go with 265s. I don't want to mess with spacers, so 285s are out, and I don't want to drop the money on suspension just yet either, and from everything I read, 255s won't work with stock setup?

Rear would work fine but the front would require some pinch weld massaging.

I noticed a Definite power difference going to the larger sizes of tires so if you want the stock feel and driving characteristics the won steer ya wrong

Well I stumbled upon a set of almost new 265/75 Cooper Discoverer ATPs on Craigslist and snagged them for 300 bucks. For that price, I figure I'll give them a shot. They look noticeably better/bigger than the 265/70 Michelins the truck had on it.

Just wanted to post my experience with the 235/85/16 wildpeaks on this thread in case it helps someone.

Pros:
More power
Better gas mileage
Awesome in snow
Fine on dirt roads etc.
good ability to air down
I think they look really awesome

cons:
Rut finders
Rough ride, could also be due to them being LT tires and I keep them aired up.

all in all I will be running the same tires again once I wear these out.
