80PSI is not the max just what it takes to hold the rated load (it won't pop in the sun). That old school size tire will not provide street handling on par with today's traffic unless at or near 80 PSI on a heavy rig. I ran 235-85's for years and cornering on the street was like driving a 74 LTD without alot of air. The best leap forward in 3/4, 1 ton pickup handling was when Ford had 265-75's made for the Super duty, it was a 1/2 ton Z-71 tire size first.
